Ian D'Agata
Ian D’Agata has been writing and lecturing about food and wine for more than 25 years. An award-winning wine writer in Italy, D’Agata is responsible for most of the coverage of Italian wine in the International Wine Cellar, and has also covered Bordeaux for the IWC. He is also a lecturer on Italian food and wine cultural history in the Food Sciences Master’s program at NYU and teaches wine appreciation for a number of other U.S. universities. He is the only Italian wine writer to have been asked to write a book by a major U.S. publisher (Harper Collins/Ecco’s The Ecco Guide to the Best Wines of Italy) and is the first Italian to have guided a masterclass on wine by England’s Decanter magazine. He is also the author of two annual Italian wine guides, The Price-Pleasure Wine Guide and the D’Agata & Comparini Guide to Italy’s Best Wines, for which he won the 2009 International Association of Culinary Professionals Gourmand Award for wine guides.
D'Agata, who also has his own wine website (www.iandagata.com), is Director of the International Wine Academy of Rome, and is a frequent speaker in Italy and around the world on a range of wine-related topics, including Italy’s native grape varieties and the subject of health and wine.
